I recently teamed up with first among equals, Maria Franzoni, to create a series of short Zoom interviews exploring the impact of AI, future trends, and the exciting opportunities ahead.
AI models like ChatGPT are at a crossroads where for some, the hype doesn’t match the reality. Smaller businesses are jumping in, while larger companies remain cautious due to ethical concerns and risks.
These models excel with human-created data, but as they start relying more on ‘synthetic’ data, there’s a risk of what Cory Doctorow calls ‘enshittification’ — a decline in quality and value.
But it isn’t standing still. Newer models with ‘Self-Taught Reasoning’ could be the answer.
However, for AI to become a utility alongside water, gas and electricity, it needs to handle the unexpected. That’s the next big step.
Do you believe Ai is reaching a saturation point, or are we just scratching the surface of its potential?
