Rant begins: AI isn’t creative… AI is cheating… (Sigh)
September has flown by in a whirlwind of activity! The fascination and desire to grasp the essence of AI, including its potential and what it truly signifies, is seeing an undying surge.
YET - two recurring misconceptions never fail to emerge.
First up, is the notion that 'AI isn't creative.' While it might hold a fragment of truth when isolated, it dramatically transforms into a powerhouse amplifying creativity when wielded by an individual bestowed with a creative spirit. It mirrors the unique touch of its user, becoming an extension of their inventive mind. Speaking from personal experience, I see myself as a creative person. AI has revolutionised the realms of possibilities for me, aiding in crafting virtual and physical workshop activities beyond my wildest imagination.
Next in line, the statement that 'AI equates to cheating'. This is far from reality. The genie is out of the bottle, making such claims obsolete. It's somewhat amusing to witness individuals adhering stubbornly to the 'traditional way of doing things' expressing such views. It parallels the skeptics of the dot-com era, discrediting the online revolution as a passing phase. Unfortunately, many saw their careers stagnate, confined to outdated mediums.
Be prepared to witness a transformation in the HR landscape, led by avant-garde HR Directors who will soon introduce groundbreaking KPIs for employees. Brace yourself for the inception of 'Human Machine Teaming' or similar concepts dominating the professional sphere. A key parameter of proficiency will encompass our adeptness to collaborate with high-tech machinery, steering towards optimum outcomes. This is just a glimpse into the myriad of innovative metrics on the horizon.
AI stands as a vessel of creativity and a far cry from cheating. It's high time we shed our inhibitions and warmly welcome the plethora of benefits it brings to the table. Failure to do so will only see our significance gradually fade away.
